Steve joined Veit in 1992. Back then, he was one of only four people in the office. He started as an estimator, and today he is our vice president of demolition. His responsibilities include overseeing the demolition group and keeping Veit’s demolition team growing at a controlled pace while remaining the industry leaders.
Steve attended North Dakota State University, where he earned his degree in construction management. He came to Veit straight out of college and hasn’t looked back. He says that he has never felt the need to look for another job because Veit treats its employees so well and provides opportunities for those who work for them.
He enjoys his job because he loves to compete. “This industry is a competition,” he says. “It’s like a game. That’s the way I look at it.” Steve takes pride in Veit being the Midwest’s leader in demolition. Over the years, he’s helped wreck “everything from a bus shelter to a 22-story building.” He says that some of his favorite projects have been sports arena demolitions, like the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
In his free time, Steve likes to hang out and relax with his family. He especially enjoys spending time at his cabin in Northern Minnesota, where he goes to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. He loves to hunt and fish or just sit on the lake in a pontoon.
