In 2011, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District acquired the former Hopkins Cold Storage Facility and the 17 acres of land it sat on. The MCWD’s primary goal is to utilize a portion of this property to treat polluted wastewater from the surrounding 270 acre abandoned industrial site before it enters the Minnehaha Creek. Veit was contracted by MCWD to demo the former storage facility. Built in 1951, the 275,000 square foot structure sat empty for more than 10 years until its eventual deconstruction.
