Project Overview

In October of 2019, Veit began site construction of the Hilton Garden Inn. The finished product includes a seven story, 176 room hotel structure with an accompanying 200 stall parking garage. We performed all of the earthwork including remediation of hazardous waste soils, foundations for parking garage and hotel; and installed new underground utilities. Being a small and congested property, plans also called for an underground detention pond to support the stormwater system. Our crews worked diligently to complete this project on schedule and within budget.

Challenges We Solved

Poor Soils
One of the biggest challenges that presented itself on this project were the compromised soils on site. Veit was tasked with the remediation and removal of these soils to create a more structurally sound base for parking areas and foundations
02.
Hazardous Waste
Most of this contaminated dirt had to be treated as hazardous material. Our project managers were able to source a specialized facility that would accept the material in MI. We then organized all logistics to get the material there.

Crowded Site
This hotel was constructed on a small lot, which meant for crowded conditions with numerous subcontractors from different trades working to erect the structure. Our crews communicated throughout the project with all other subcontractors to effectively get the job done.
