Mike Flahave has worked for Veit for over 14 years and is now our Vice President of Demolition overseeing all demolition project management, estimating, and project coordination in addition to developing the overall growth strategy for our demolition team.
Mike attended Saint John’s University, where he graduated with a degree in Leadership Management. He continued his education at Dunwoody College of Technology, graduating with a Construction of Project Supervision degree. He is passionate about meeting challenges head-on and bringing innovative ideas to the table to expand the division. “Our team never settles and continuously seeks out ways to improve and grow, striving to produce an improved experience for our workforce and clients,” he says. “Never Settle, Dig Deeper is exactly what it means to work for Veit and is apparent in all aspects of this organization.”
Mike’s proudest career moment was being the project manager of the team that was awarded the Urban Demolition World Demolition Award under US $10 Million for demolishing the former McCormick Hall (AKA Beer Can) located at the University of Marquette’s campus in Milwaukee, WI. This project consisted of demolishing a 54-year-old 13-story dormitory building in a downtown urban setting. Veit brought back the crane & ball method to safely demolish this structure and recycled 91% of the building materials.
When not at work, Mike enjoys being outdoors and loves golfing, hunting, and snowmobiling. An avid Minnesota sports fan, he enjoys watching and cheering for Vikings football and Wild hockey. Mike and his wife, Amanda, have three children and enjoy spending time as a family whether that be in Northern Minnesota on a lake or with friends and family at home.
