Veit contracted with Willmar Municipal Utilities for the decommissioning and demolition of two 80-meter Dewind wind turbines in Willmar, Minnesota. Installed in 2008, the turbines had reached the end of their operational lifecycle and required complete removal. The two wind turbines stood 260 feet tall, with the highest point of 394 feet at the tip of the turbine blade.
Veit’s scope of work included the controlled implosion of the two wind turbines, removal of turbine towers and nacelle components, complete excavation and removal of turbine foundation pads, recycling of concrete and steel materials, and site grading and restoration. The project site was restored to the natural habitat as part of the Willmar Wildlife Management Area.
